Brooke Christa Shields Bio

Brooke Christa Shields, born May 31, 1965 is an American actress. At age 12, she was a child model. She won critical acclaim for her role in the film of Louis Malle's Pretty Baby (1978). She continued modeling through her teens and was a part of various dramas of the 1980s such as The Blue Lagoon (1980) as well as Franco Zeffirelli's Endless Love (1981). In 1983 Shields decided to end her modeling career to go to Princeton University where she received an undergraduate degree in Romance Languages. Shields was cast in film roles of minor importance and returned to acting roles in the 1990s. She was also on the NBC sitcoms Suddenly Susan (1996-202000), in which she was nominated to two Golden Globes. Lipstick Jungle (2008-2009) was her second nomination. In 2017 Shields was back on NBC with a recurring part in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in the show's 19th season. Shields plays Beverly Goodman in Adult Swim's animated series Mr. Pickles since 2014. Brooke Christa Shields was born in Manhattan, New York on May 31, 1965. She is the daughter of model and actress Teri Shields (nee Schmon, 1933-2012) and businessman Frank Shields (1941-2003). Her mother was of English, German, Scotch-Irish, and Welsh origin, and her father had English, French, Irish as well as Italian ancestry.According to the work of William Addams Reitwiesner, Shields has ancestral ties to many noble families of Italy, in particular those from Genoa as well as Rome. These are namely (in chronological order of descent from 1355 to 1965) the Gattilusi-Palaiologos-Savoy, Grimaldi, Imperiali, Carafa, Doria, Doria-Pamphili-Landi, Chigi-Albani, and Torlonia dynasties. Marina Torlonia di Civitella Cisi di Civitella was her paternal grandmother. She was the daughter of an American socialite and an Italian prince. Her great-uncle, Alessandro Torlonia, an Italian nobleman, was the husband of Infanta Beatriz who was born in Spain. Teri was paid an amount by the family of Frank to stop the pregnancy.
