Angelina Jolie, originally Angelina
Jolie Voight (born June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles, California), is an American
actor, director, and producer best known for her sex appeal , as also her
humanitarian work. Jolie, the daughter and actor Jon Voight, was raised in New
York. After her growing up, she relocated to Los Angeles, where she played the
part of the mental patient in Girl, interrupted (1999). She attended the Lee
Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute for two years and then enrolled at Beverly
Hills High School. She then studied drama at New York University. In addition
to acting in theater productions, she also played the role of a model as well
as appearing in music videos.Jolie's first big movie performance was in Hackers
(1995), during the filming of which she met her first husband, British actor
Jonny Lee Miller (married 1996 divorced in 1999). The film was not able to
attract an audience, just as did several subsequent films. Jolie was the
actress who played the role of the governor's wife in Alabama, a segregationist
was the subject of much interest in 1997. Later, she won the Golden Globe
Award. The following year she played a supermodel struggling with addiction to
drugs in the HBO movie Gia, a performance that brought her numerous awards, including
a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award. In 1999, she appeared in the
comedy Pushing Tin with John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton, and the following
year she married Thornton (divorced 2003).After the Oscar-winning role in Girl,
Interrupted, Jolie starred in a series of action-oriented films. Jolie played
the carjacker's girlfriend (Nicolas Cage) in Gone in Sixty Seconds 2000. Then,
she took on an accent that resembled a British accent as well as mastered
street fights and kickboxing in order to take on the roles in Lara Croft Tomb
Raider 2001 and Lara Croft Tomb Raider The Cradle of Life 2003. The actress
played Alexander's mother in Oliver Stone's Alexander (2004) and starred
alongside Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow in Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow
(a sci-fi thriller set 1930s New York City). Both films were box office
disappointments however, Jolie made a splash with Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005)
the film where she played an assassin posing as a normal housewife; while
making the film she became acquainted with Brad Pitt, who became her partner.
