Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on the 17th
of November 1978, in London, Ontario, Canada She was the daughter of Sandra Kay
(Gale), Nurse, and Lance Frederick McAdams who is an auto driver and furniture
moving. She is Englishand is Welsh- -, Irishas well as Scottish. Rachel started
her journey into acting in her teens and by the age of 13 was appearing in
Shakespearean productions at summer theater camps. She was able to graduate
with distinction, earning an honors BFA degree in Theater from York University.
After her first appearance on TV in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson in 1998,
Rachel was a part of Canadian television's Slings and Arrows 2003. The comedy
drama follows the struggles of Shakespearean theater groups. She was awarded a
Gemini Award for her performance in 2003. Her first big role was in Mean Girls
(2004) as Regina George instantly landed her in the top tier of Hollywood's
list of promising young actors. Following that film, she starred opposite Ryan
Gosling as the romantic drama adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' bestseller The
Notebook (2004). The Notebook was a hugely successful film at the box office
and became the most watched romantic drama for an audience of young people.
McAdams and Gosling fell in love during filming and continued to be together
until the middle of 2007. McAdams' next film was comedy Wedding Crashers
(2006), the action thriller Red Eye (2004), and the Christmas drama The Family
Stone ((2005)). McAdams also explored independent film through Married Life
(2007) which was premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. It also featured
Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper, as well as Patricia Clarkson. The role she
played in the war drama The Lucky Ones (2007) as well as the newspaper thriller
State of Play (2009) and the romantic The Time Traveler's Wife (2009) followed
before she starred alongside Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law in Guy Ritchie's
international blockbuster Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams was the determined
producer for Morning Glory (2010). She also played the materialistic fiancee
Owen Wilson in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams returned to
romantic drama in The Vow (2012), in which she was a co-star with Channing
Tatum. McAdams is also in the film with Ben Affleck in Terrence Malick's To the
Wonder (2012) and with Noomi Rapace in Brian De Palma's thriller Passion
(2012).In 2005, McAdams received ShoWest's "Supporting Actress of the
Year" Award and the "Breakthrough Actress of the Year" at the
Hollywood Film Awards
