Steve Aoki
Steve Aoki was created in Miami, Florida
on the 30th November 1977. American electro house music producer D.J., and
record producer Steve Aoki is his nickname. Music executive. He is the third
child of Chizuru and Rocky Aoki's children. His father was a former wrestler
and also helped to develop the chain of restaurants Benihana. He has 2 older
siblings, a sister Kana (who is often referred to Grace, her middle name)
Grace) & brother Kevin (owner of Doraku Sushi restaurant). Half-sister
Devon Aoki is a model and actress. He was born in Newport Beach, California and
graduated from Newport Harbor High School, which was where he played as a
member of the badminton varsity team. He went on to UC Santa Barbara,
graduating w/ 2 B.A. He also earned two bachelor's degrees, one in feminist
studies and the one in Sociology. In the college years, he made do-it-yourself
records & ran underground events from his Biko room in the Santa
Barbara Student Housing Cooperative. It was a concert venue and the Biko room was
dubbed The Pickle Patch. The owner was also involved in student activism at
UCSB. He created a Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist League Chapter on campus. In
his early 20s the singer had established his own label, which he named Dim
Mak-a reference to his hero from his childhood, Bruce Lee. He released I'm In
the House in March 2010 as a collaboration with the Zuper Blahq, the alter-ego
of will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas. The song made it to the top spot at No.
29 on the U.K. singles chart in its first week. The song later made it onto the
U.K. Dance Chart & the U.K. Indie Chart, placing in the top 5 in both
charts. The song was featured in an episode of MTV's Jersey Shore as well as in
the feature film Piranha & the trailer for Think Like A Man.
Producer-songwriter Lucas Secon confirmed in a interview in May 2010 with
HitQuarters that he and Rivers Cuomo had recently worked together with Aoki on
a single. The song was named the highest-grossing American dance artist by
Pollstar in 2012. He has collaborated w/ artists such as Iggy Azalea, Afrojack,
LMFAO, Linkin Park, Will.i.am, Lil Jon, Blink-182, Laidback Luke, BTS, Louis
Tomlinson, Rise Against, Vini Vici & Fall Out Boy. The artist is known
for his remixes of artists such as Kid Cudi.
